In my opinion, Atlanta native Tayari Jones is one of the most talented writers out there. There are approximately twenty dog-eared pages in my copy of Kin. We follow two "cradle friends," Niecey and Annie, both motherless girls growing up in Honeysuckle, Alabama in the 1950s. The girls take diverging paths in life, corresponding via letters that are interstitched throughout the novel. I find myself thinking about this book often. Come pick up a copy in the shop and tell me your thoughts once you've read it!
