The Brown Dog Bookshop

At The Brown Dog Bookshop, we believe in supporting our community and giving back in meaningful ways. As part of our mission, we proudly support animal welfare initiatives, local animal rescue organizations and local schools. Due to volume, we cannot answer all requests. We will contact you if we decide to donate to your organization. If you are an educational insitution, please check out our EXTRA BOOK LOVE program using the link above.

Our Giving Focus

The Brown Dog Bookshop exclusively supports animal rescue, animal welfare charities and local schools. We prioritize organizations that:

  • Rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals

  • Provide veterinary care for animals in need

  • Provide Food for animals in need

  • Support spay/neuter and humane education programs

  • Operate as registered nonprofit organizations

  • Teach children preschool through college age

  • Make a commitment to encouraging reading of all kinds to children of all kinds

Due to limited resources, we are unable to support causes outside of animal rescue, animal welfare and schools.

Types of Donations

We may provide support in the following ways:

  • Gift cards for fundraising events

  • Exclusive shopping opportunities for raffles and silent auctions

  • In-store fundraising events (when space and schedule allow)

All donations are subject to availability and approval.

Request Process

To be considered, donation requests must:

  • Fill out this form as completely as possible.

  • Be received at least 30 days prior to the event

We are unable to accommodate last-minute requests.

Additional Guidelines

  • Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.

  • Requests from people who are customers of our store will be considered first.

  • Approved donations must be picked up at the bookstore unless otherwise arranged.
