The Brown Dog Bookshop is a cozy, independent bookstore dedicated to fostering a love of reading and supporting our local community. We specialize in a carefully curated selection of books across genres, host regular bookish events, and pride ourselves on offering a warm, personalized experience for every customer who walks through our doors.
Position Summary:
We are looking to add members of our community to our reading team. We need readers in specific genres to assist in selecting books for our inventory. You will have access to digital and paper Advance Reader Copies of upcoming releases as well as a Staff discount on books in the specified genre.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and offer detailed reviews of books in selected genre with the goal of increasing book sales
Maintain an accurate account on The Storygraph
Communicate reviews and opinions, even negative ones, regularly with Staff
Maintain knowledge of current book trends, new releases, and store inventory
Required Qualifications
Must be a current customer or Paw Prints Member of The Brown Dog Bookshop
Ability to effectively use technology including e-readers
Excellent communication skills
Read at least 6 books a month in the specified genre
