About Us
The Brown Dog Bookshop is an independent bookstore dedicated to building community through books and dogs! We believe book clubs are one of the best ways to connect readers and create meaningful conversations.
Position Overview
We are seeking a warm, organized, and enthusiastic Community Book Club Leader to host and facilitate a monthly in-store book club. This person will create a welcoming environment, guide thoughtful discussion, and help foster a consistent and engaged group of readers.
Responsibilities
Lead one book club meeting per month (approximately 90–120 minutes)
Select titles in collaboration with bookstore staff
Read the monthly selection in advance
Prepare discussion questions and conversation prompts
Welcome attendees and facilitate engaging, inclusive discussion
Set up seating and light event materials prior to the meeting
Clean and reset the space following the event
Communicate basic attendance information and feedback to store staff
Qualifications
Passion for reading and literary discussion
Comfortable speaking in front of groups
Friendly, inclusive, and community-minded
Reliable and able to commit to a regular monthly schedule
Prior facilitation or teaching experience is a plus, but not required
